Year 8 visit the School of Chemistry

Four gifted and talented Year 8 students recently spent a day in the School of Chemistry at Nottingham University as part of the annual Salter’s Festival of Chemistry which is held to help promote the appreciation of chemistry among young people.

The students had two hours to conduct a forensic investigation, write a report and explain their findings to members of a jury of lecturers from the University.

All four students relished the challenge, worked hard as a team and obtained a brilliant 2nd place out of 14 other schools who also participated.

Teacher of Science, Dr Hautot said “This was a fantastic opportunity to stretch our students and encourage them to become independent learners”.
