On Friday 27th September, Colonel Frank Seely School took part in Macmillan Cancer Relief’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2013. This event gives people all over the UK the chance to raise money for people living with cancer.
To help Macmillan better last year’s target of £15 million, we held the event in our catering facilities ‘Colonel’s Café’ from 9:15 to 10:45am. Year 8 pupils provided a waiter service – they did a brilliant job serving approximately 50 people throughout morning, with tea, coffee and cakes. We also held a raffle for the charity with the proceeds also going to Macmillan.
Trina Ridgill, School Business Manager, said “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning gives young people at our school the chance to make a real difference to people living with cancer, and their families”.
The sun shone, and the atmosphere was wonderful – a brilliant community spirit. We raised in excess of £250 for the Macmillan charity.
