Junior Maths Challenge

Pupils at Colonel Frank Seely achieved 3 golds, 9 silvers and 8 bronzes in this year’s UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. Around 250,000 pupils from across the UK sat the Junior Maths Challenge with roughly the top 6% receiving a gold certificate, the next 13% silver and the next 21% bronze. Approximately 6000 of the top students are invited to sit a follow-on competition, this year this included 3 of our year 8 pupils who all scored high enough to take part in the Kangaroo round of the completion. We are currently waiting with baited breath for these results to be released.
The successful Year 8 pupils who all received a gold certificate along with their entry into the next round were Patrick Atkinson, Samuel Cardwell and Ella Sutherland. Following on from this were Katie Haines, Luke Mitchell and Madison Dooley in Year 8 and Holly Chapman, Gabriel Patterson, Aimee Hogg, Matthew Clarke, Dominice Moran and Aren Francis in Year 7 who all received a silver certificate. Finally the bronze certificates went to; Yasmin Kowal, Lucy Wilson and Niamh Broderick in Year 8 and Joshua Evans, Matthew Hunt, Freya Sutherland, Drew McKenzie and Ellie Smith in Year 7. Holly Chapman picked up the award for best in Year 7 and Patrick Atkinson received best in school.
We wish to congratulate all the pupils who took part; they all did Colonel Frank Seely proud.
