A Great Night – GCSE and A-level Awards evening

Although Paralympic and world champion Richard Whitehead unfortunately could not attend at short notice, which was a huge disappointment to all, over 200 present and former students came to receive their well-earned examination certificates and the warm applause from an enthusiastic audience, from Headteacher Mrs Mays.

Many students also received special individual subject prizes awarded for consistent effort, excellent achievement or for overcoming individual challenges to success in all BTEC, GCSE and A Level subjects taught in school.

Mr Kurylec delivered a short keynote speech using a video montage of Richard Whitehead’s career highlights in the face of all the challenges he has had to overcome to achieve what he has to this present time. Students were urged to face their challenges with perseverance and determination in an effort to be the best that they can in whatever they are doing. Like Richard Whitehead, Mr Kurylec wanted all students to try and make a positive difference to people’s lives throughout their working lives within they chosen fields.

Proceedings culminated with tea, coffee, mince pies and an opportunity for everyone to catch up with friends and teachers where many kind words congratulations and sincere thanks were expressed by all.

“It was a really lovely evening to be part of and one of those which made me very happy to be a part of CFS and one of those occasions when I was reminded of why I decided to become a teacher in the first place. I know from the kind words of many that everyone their both enjoyed and valued the occasion – my own sincere thanks to everyone who attended!”
